Wa West District: MP, DCE Supply 12 Motorbikes to Ghana Education Service, Other Departments

The District Chief Executive for Wa West , Hon. Edward Sabo Laabiir handed over 12 motor bikes to the management of Wa West District Education Directorate, Wa West District Health Directorate and the Environmental Health Unit of the District Assembly.

The 12 motor bikes were procured by the Wa West District Assembly through the collaborative efforts of the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Joseph Yieleh Chireh and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Edward Sabo Laabiir as announced during the 63rd Independence Anniversary Celebration at Wechiau.

Out of the 12 Motorbikes, 6 of them were procured specially to the Supervision Unit of Wa West District Education Office by the Hon. Member of Parliament through his share of the of District Assembly Common Fund.

The remaining 6 were procured by the Wa West District Assembly to augment the effort of the legislature in promoting effective Monitoring and Supervision towards the improvement in quality education in the district.

The 6 Motorbikes procured by the Hon. MP were handed over to the Supervision Unit of the GES, Wa West District, as planned while additional 2 from the District Assembly were handed over to the Wa West District Education Office to be assigned to the District Girl Child Coordinator and the Acting Headmaster of the newly opened SHSs in Wechiau and Dorimon.

Two (2) of the remaining motorbikes were handed over to the Wa West District Health Directorate and the remaining 2 to the Environmental Health and Sanitation unit of the District Assembly.

According to the DCE, the gesture was to promote effective Monitoring and Supervision in all schools in the district towards improved learning outcomes. He added that empowering the District Child Coordinator and the Acting Headmaster of the two SHSs would also enable them play their routine monitoring and supervisory roles and responsibilities as expected of them.

Two motorbikes each were also handed over to the Wa West District Director of Health Services and the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the Assembly, respectively, to support effective health delivery in the district and improved follow-up visits to Sanitation related programmes embarked upon by the District Assembly.

Management of the Wa West District Education Directorate and the District Health Services expressed their words of appreciations to the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Joseph Yieleh Chireh and District Chief Executive, Hon. Edward Sabo Laabiir for collaborating efforts towards improved monitoring and Supervision of all programmes in their respective departments.
