President Akufo-Addo to meet transport Unions over plans to adjust fares

President Akufo-Addo will meet with transportation union leaders today, October 25, 2022, to discuss plans to adjust transportation fares.

The unions anticipate a 30 to 40% increase, which they say is necessary due to the soaring prices of petroleum products at the pump.

Since last week, the unions have been meeting with the Transport Ministry about the fare adjustment.

Despite the fact that no concrete decision has been made, some other Unions, such as VIP, have already adjusted their prices.

Emmanuel Ohene-Yeboah, General Secretary of the Roads Transport Coordinating Council, stated on the News and Current Affairs Programme “Behind the News” that the percentage of fares will be decided at the meeting with the President.

Meanwhile, the Concerned Drivers Association’s Public Relations Officer, Mark Agboado, says the organization is not willing to back down from the 30% increase.
