Hajj board to refund fees paid to prospective pilgrims


The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana under the Ghana Hajj Board has revealed it would refund all fees paid it by prospective pilgrims for the 2020 Hajj in Makkah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Minister of Hajj and Umrah and Government of Saudi Arabia on June 22 announced the cancellation of the 2020 Hajj Pilgrimage over COVID-19 concerns which have forced states including Saudi Arabia to close all borders to contain the spread of the virus

.A press release signed by the Chairman of the Hajj Board and the Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Agents Association, Alhaji Issah Umar Suleiman, stated that the Board is currently communicating with the Saudi Arabia Authorities for a refund plan.

“The Hajj board, therefore, wishes to assure all Ghanaian pilgrims who have paid their fees for the 2020 Hajj that management is presently communicating with the Saudi officials, to ensure that full funds for those pilgrims are successfully concluded, ” it said.

For the 2020 Hajj Pilgrimage, each Ghanaian pilgrim paid an amount of GHS 19,500 an of the equivalent of $ 3,750.
