GES embarks on a campaign to ensure every school child returns to school

The Northern Regional Education Directorate has embarked on a massive back-to-school campaign to ensure every school child returns to school after the ten months of closure.

According to the Directorate, it is normal for school children particularly those in rural areas to feel reluctant in going back to school after being at home for a long period.

The Regional Director of Education for Northern, North East and Savannah regions, Dr. Peter Attafuah in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana in Tamale encouraged parents and guardians to ensure their wards go back to school.

Per the government’s directive, all schools particularly basic and kindergarten schools are to re-open on January 18, 2021. This follows a long break due to the COVID -19 pandemic which led to the closure of schools.

During the break, most school children lost touch of studies while others engaged in menial jobs to while away the time.

It is evident that those that got engaged with work will feel reluctant to go back to school since they will be carried away by wages or monies they made in their respective menial jobs.

According to the Regional Director of Education, Dr. Peter Ataffuah, it is a concern to worry and that is why the directorate will not relent in its effort to address it.

Dr. Attafuah allayed fears of parents and guardians that the virus lurks around schools, adding that, the environment has been made safe for all.
