In enforcing the Imposition of the Restriction Act 2020 (ACT 1012) and Executive Instrument 164 (EI 164), the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has proposed a number of punitive measures towards the amendment of the said section 6 to impose punishment that is less severe.

A statement signed by Mr Anthony Forson, the National President of GBA and issued in Accra on Tuesday 30th June and copied to Elsie’sOpinari proposes a term of imprisonment of not less than one month and not more than two years to anyone who flouts this restriction in the #COVID19 Pandemic era.

“The Bar would propose a fine of not less than ten penalty units, not more than one hundred and fifty penalty units or to a term of imprisonment of not less than one month and not more than two years,

“It is our firm belief that our proposal are sufficiently punitive and will deter people from violating the restrictions imposed by virtue of the law, ‘ it said.
