The financial standing of media enterprises has been weakened by the general fall in economic and social activities arising out of the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
A report titled: “Media and COVID-19 in West Africa Africa” by the Media Foundation for West Africa between March -June has revealed.
While the report calls on the government to put in place financial relief packages including tax breaks for the media, it also calls on the media to leverage on the opportunities offered by technology.
“Provide technical assistance and know-how on media financial sustainability, as well as strategies that could help media organizations leverage their internal capacity to mobilise resources, ” it said.
