COVID-19 UPDATE: Rwanda records zero positive case from 1300 new coronavirus samples on Monday

KIGALI — Rwanda on Monday, reported no new case of COVID-19 out of the 1,299 tests that had been carried out in 24 hours, the health minister has announced.

According to a status update from Rwanda’s health ministry, four patients were discharged during the same period, after full recovery, bringing the cumulative number of those that have recovered to 80.

The total cases registered in Rwanda including those that have recovered are 147.

The health ministry said all the remaining patients were undergoing treatment and are in stable condition.

“The majority are asymptomatic and no patient is under critical conditions,” the daily report by the ministry released Monday reads in part.

The ministry called on Rwandans to observe all measures put in place to increase vigilance against the virus.

Since the outbreak of this pandemic in the country, the Kigali has employed several directives to contain it.

They range from a country lockdown set to run up to April 30th, suspension of passenger air travel and temporary halting of large gatherings including church services and schools.

The most recent measure that went into force on Monday April 20, the mandatory use of face masks in public and in multi-family compounds.
