Parents, guardians, children and members of Effutu can take a sigh of relief following a sod-cutting ceremony towards the construction of a children’s hospital aimed at giving a healthy lifestyle and living to children in the community.Development-oriented Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has cut the sod for the construction of a children’s hospital in the constituency.
The project which would take six months for its completion is located at Gyengyenadze, near Winneba.It is the first children’s hospital to be constructed in the whole of the Central Region.At the groundbreaking ceremony to herald the construction of the project, the MP, Afenyo-Markin, otherwise known as ‘Show Boy’, said that the development of a nation or people depends largely on the health status of the people.
In his view, children grow up to continue with the progress of a people and if these children are not well taken care of, expected progress is doomed. The hospital, upon its completion, would serve not only the children of Effutu but the entire Central Region. The chiefs and people of Gyengyanadze expressed their appreciation for the project and prayed for long life, prosperity and continued to stay in office for ‘Alex’ as they popularly refer to him.
