In recent times education has become one of the most paramount priorities of every child. Everyone is responsible for giving out quality education. Education can take place anytime, anywhere or from anyone be it formal, informal or non-formal. Most of the time teachers and Parents do most of the education which is not enough. Churches, societal clubs and friends or mentors can take part in educating children in society.
In a nutshell, everyone is responsible for making a positive impact in one’s life and as the saying goes, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” by Benjamin Franklin.
A youth organization named Aid Education Foundation, (AEF) for short, has taken it upon itself as a non-governmental entity to help shape the future of young ones, be it financially or psychologically. This time the team travelled to the northern hemisphere of the country on 29th July, 2021 Thursday
In the Asante Bekwai constituency, a town named Ntinanko in the Ashanti Region.
In the town, the team visited one of the primary schools named Ntinanko Roman Catholic Primary B, where they had the first phase of the project of which the charitable donations went to the pupils in primary 1, 2 and 3 only. Exercise books, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, nose masks and files( clear bags) are some educational materials that were shared to every child in these classes, you can just imagine the smile on their faces while they encouraged them as well to take their lessons serious.
From there, the team went to their sister school, Ntinanko Roman Catholic Primary A to undertake the same project.
There again, pencils, exercise books, erasers, sharpeners, nose masks and files (clear bags) were distributed to the lovely children in primary 1, 2 and 3.
After the activity, a short interview was organized with some of the staff in the school. According to them, they, the staff sometimes buy books and other stationery for the children so they were even amazed to have the team in their school to embark on this amazing project. Also, in a short interview with the kids too, they also expressed their profound gratitude for the donations
The next day which was 30th July 2021, Friday, the team again visited a Senior High School in the next town in the same constituency named Denyase. The name of the Senior High School is Denyaseman Catholic SHS. A mentorship programme was held for the final year students of the school and encouraging them to make informed choices as they are about leaving the school to the world after the WASSCE. As the saying goes “Education is the passport to the future for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it” by Malcolm X.
There was a breakout session for the students in their respective field of studies and they were guided in understanding certain things they wanted to know, some opportunities out there for them and were briefed on some courses they can study at the tertiary level or what to know if they want to start their own business. As stated by George Washington Carver, that “Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”
At the end, They again distributed sanitizers, tissues mathematical sets, rulers and pens to the students to motivate them to work on their dreams and aspirations. Frank Herbert once said that “the function of Science fiction is not always to predict the future but sometimes to prevent it”.
In all, the team did a wonderful job by motivating the young ones by shaping their future and to make the right decisions to help them in their future.” The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one” by Malcolm S Forbes. Indeed, accessing quality education is a must for every child!!!.
